The Governor-General can make rules to help this Act work properly. You can think of these rules as instructions to make sure everything runs smoothly. The Governor-General can make these rules from time to time as needed.

The Governor-General's rules are a type of law called secondary legislation, which has its own set of rules to follow, see Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019 for more information about this. These rules help put the Act into action and make sure it is administered correctly. This is an important part of how the law works in New Zealand.
