4Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment

  1. There shall be appointed, as an officer of Parliament, a Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment.

  2. Subject to section 8, the Commissioner shall be appointed by the Governor-General on the recommendation of the House of Representatives.
