Constitution Act 1986

Miscellaneous provisions

25: General Assembly Library to be known as the Parliamentary Library

You could also call this:

"The library's new name is the Parliamentary Library, not the General Assembly Library."

Illustration for Constitution Act 1986

The library that was called the General Assembly Library will now be called the Parliamentary Library. You will see this new name used from the time the Constitution Act 1986 started. The person in charge of the library, who was called the Chief Librarian of the General Assembly Library, will now be called the Parliamentary Librarian. When you read other laws or documents, you will see the old names replaced with the new ones, unless it is clear that the old names are still being used, but there is an exception mentioned in section 27. This change happens because of the Constitution Act 1986, and you will start to see the new names used from then on.
