This Act will start on the earlier of two dates. You need to know when the Governor-General says it starts or one year after it gets the Royal assent. The Governor-General can choose a date for this Act to start.

The Governor-General can also choose different start dates for different parts of this Act. You can find out more about how these dates are chosen in the Legislation Act 2019, Part 3 explains how orders like this are published. When an order is made under this section, it is called secondary legislation.
