Operator certificates

38: Expiry, renewal, and replacement of certificate

You could also call this:

"What happens when your certificate runs out, needs renewing, or gets lost or damaged"

Your certificate expires one year after it is issued. You can apply to renew your certificate two months before it expires. When you apply to renew, the rules in section 35 apply, just like when you first applied for your certificate.

If you apply to renew your certificate before it expires, but the application is not decided yet, your original certificate stays valid until the application is decided. You can keep using your original certificate until you hear back about your renewal application. This means you do not have to stop using your certificate while you wait.

The Registrar can give you a new certificate if you lose or damage your original one. To get a replacement, you need to apply for one and show that your original certificate is lost or damaged. You also need to give the Registrar some recent photos of yourself and pay a fee, if there is one.
