You need to take the oath of allegiance and the judicial oath if you are the Chief Justice. You also need to take these oaths if you are a Judge of the High Court or the Court Martial. This rule is empowered by s 22(1). You must take the oaths if you are an appointed Judge of the Court Martial Appeal Court, an Employment Court Judge, or the Judge of the Compensation Court. You also need to take the oaths if you are a District Court Judge, a Judge of the Maori Land Court, or an Associate Judge of the High Court. Other people who need to take the oaths include Justices of the Peace, Community Magistrates, Family Court Associates, Coroners, Associate Coroners, Sheriffs, and Referees of the Disputes Tribunal.
