17: Offences in respect of Officers

If you stop a Litter Control Officer from doing their job, you can get a fine of up to $1,500. You can also get a fine if you do not do what a Litter Control Officer asks you to do, as stated in section 6 or section 7. If a Litter Control Officer asks for your name and address, and you refuse, give a false name or address, or give a vague address, you can get a fine.

If you pretend to be a Litter Control Officer when you are not, you can get a fine. A Litter Control Officer can also be called a Warden. You must follow the rules and respect Litter Control Officers when they are doing their job.

17Offences in respect of Officers

  1. Every person commits an offence, and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $1,500, who—

  2. wilfully obstructs a Litter Control Officer while acting in the execution of any of the powers or duties conferred on him by this Act:
    1. fails within a reasonable time to comply with the requirement of a Litter Control Officer exercising the power conferred on him by section 6 or section 7:
      1. after being required to disclose his true name and place of residence by a Litter Control Officer acting pursuant to the power conferred on him by section 6 or section 7
        1. refuses to disclose his true name or place of residence; or
          1. gives a false name or place of residence; or
            1. gives such a general description of his place of residence as is illusory for the purpose of discovery:
            2. personates or falsely pretends to be a Litter Control Officer.
              1. In this section, the term Litter Control Officer includes a Warden.
