Gangs Act 2024

Dispersal notices and non-consorting orders - Dispersal notices

11: Service of dispersal notice

You could also call this:

“How police give you a notice to leave an area”

When the police need to give you a dispersal notice, they can do it in two ways. They can give it to you in person, or they can send it to your email address if you’ve given them one.

If the police want to send the notice to your email, they must first explain the notice to you in person. This explanation must happen before they send the email.

If you haven’t given the police an email address, a police officer can ask you to go with them to a police station. There, they will give you the notice in person.
