Part 1Preliminary provisions

4Object of Act

  1. The object of this Act is to facilitate the provision and obtaining, by New Zealand, of international assistance in criminal matters, including—

  2. the identification and location of persons:
    1. the obtaining of evidence, documents, or other articles:
      1. the production of documents and other articles:
        1. the making of arrangements for persons to give evidence or assist investigations:
          1. the service of documents:
            1. the execution of requests for search and seizure:
              1. the forfeiture of—
                1. tainted property; and
                  1. property of persons who have unlawfully benefited from significant criminal activity or significant foreign criminal activity; and
                    1. instruments of crime; and
                      1. property that will satisfy all or part of a foreign pecuniary penalty order:
                      2. the location of property that may be forfeited:
                        1. the recovery of property to satisfy foreign pecuniary penalty orders:
                          1. the restraining of dealings with property, or the freezing of assets, that may be forfeited.
