The Attorney-General can ask a foreign country to issue a warrant or order if a criminal matter happens in New Zealand. You might be wondering what kind of warrants or orders they can ask for. They can ask for things like a restraining order, a search warrant, a production order, or an examination order, which are similar to those made under the Criminal Proceeds (Recovery) Act 2009. The Attorney-General can make this request if it involves tainted property, property of someone who got benefits from significant criminal activity, or an instrument of crime. These requests can be made to help with criminal matters in New Zealand. The Attorney-General has the power to make these requests to foreign countries. The request can be for a warrant or order that is similar to one issued under the Criminal Proceeds (Recovery) Act 2009, such as a search warrant issued under section 101, 102, or 110 of that Act.
