Illustration for Ombudsmen Act 1975

You can talk to the Inspector-General of Defence about certain matters. The Ombudsman can discuss things with the Inspector-General of Defence who is in charge under section 7 of the Inspector-General of Defence Act 2023. This can be about anything, including investigations under this Act or other laws.

You can also talk about things that the Inspector-General of Defence is in charge of, even if someone did not make a complaint. The Ombudsman can share information with the Inspector-General of Defence if it is necessary for their discussion. This is allowed even if section 21 says something different.

The Ombudsman can have these discussions from time to time, which means it can happen regularly or whenever it is needed.
