When you get a warrant under the Bail Act 2000, the judicial officer or Registrar who gives it to you must authenticate it. You authenticate a document by signing and dating it, or if it is electronic, by using a method that shows who you are and when you authenticated it. If you need to swear something is true, like an affidavit, you must sign and date it. If someone says a document is not authenticated, you can assume it is, unless they can prove it is not. You can find more information about this in section 40 of the Bail Amendment Act 2013. This helps make sure documents are real and trustworthy.
