If you are granted bail under section 27 but you are not released within the time specified in section 31(3)(a), a judicial officer or Registrar can issue a warrant for your detention. You will be kept in custody until a date, time, and place is set to reconsider your bail. This date and time must be as soon as reasonably practicable. The judicial officer or Registrar must also write on the warrant that you were granted bail and what conditions were imposed.

28Warrant for detention of defendant remanded on bail

  1. If the defendant is granted bail under section 27 but the defendant is not released within the period specified in section 31(3)(a), a judicial officer or Registrar may—

  2. issue a warrant for the detention of the defendant in custody until a date, time, and place appointed for bail to be reconsidered (which date and time must be as soon as reasonably practicable); and
    1. certify on the warrant the fact that the judicial officer or Registrar has granted the defendant bail, and the condition or conditions imposed.
