When you apply for home-based disability support services, MSD can work out how much you need to pay for these services. They do this by assessing your financial situation, using the rules set out in Schedule 3. You will then be required to pay the amount that MSD decides, based on this assessment.

MSD can gather information about you to help them make this decision, using powers they have under clauses 1 to 7 of Schedule 6 of the Social Security Act 2018. This information can help them determine how much you need to pay for your home-based disability support services, and whether you are eligible for a particular assessment.

MSD will use this information to decide how much you need to pay, and you will be required to pay this amount, as set out in your assessment, in accordance with clause 3(e) of Schedule 6 of the Social Security Act 2018.
