The Governor-General can make rules about time frames for the Director. You need to know the Director has to make decisions or take steps under Part 3. The rules can say when the Director must make a decision or take a step. The Director can extend the time frame if it is reasonable. The Director must think about the circumstances and follow certain criteria. The rules can also say what else the Director must do when extending the time frame. The Minister must talk to another Minister before recommending these rules. These rules are secondary legislation, which means they have to be published in a certain way, as outlined in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019, which you can find on the Legislation Act 2019 website.
