Telecommunications (Interception Capability and Security) Act 2013
Introduction
You could also call this:
"Keeping Your Information Safe on Telecommunications Networks"
You need to know what this Act is about. It helps surveillance agencies intercept telecommunications legally. They must be able to do this without stopping new technologies from being introduced. You have the right to choose how your telecommunications system is designed. This helps keep your information safe. This Act also helps keep public telecommunications networks secure. It stops security risks from happening. These risks can come from how networks are designed, built, or operated. They can also come from connections between networks in New Zealand or overseas. The Act wants to prevent or fix these security risks. This keeps your information safe when you use public telecommunications networks. It also helps keep the networks running smoothly. The Act has two main goals. One is to help surveillance agencies do their job. The other is to keep telecommunications networks secure. This helps keep you and your information safe.
