To be a member of the Sports Tribunal of New Zealand, you must meet certain requirements. If you are not the chairperson, you need to be a barrister or solicitor with at least 7 years of practice in the High Court of New Zealand. You also need to have a lot of experience with legal issues in sport or be heavily involved in sport in some way.

If you do not have these legal qualifications, you can still be a member of the Tribunal. In this case, you need to have a lot of experience in sport, which can be in any role, over a period of at least 10 years.

You can have this experience all at once or over different periods of time, as long as it adds up to 10 years.
