Disputes Tribunal Act 1988

Proceedings of Tribunal - Hearings

39: Proceedings to be held in private

You could also call this:

"Your Tribunal hearing will be private and only for people involved in your case."

Illustration for Disputes Tribunal Act 1988

When you go to the Tribunal, your proceedings will be held in private. This means that only the people involved in your case will be there. The Tribunal can decide to hear more than one claim at the same time if it is convenient for everyone. The Tribunal can also let someone else be present at your proceedings if they have a good reason to be there. This could be because they are interested in your specific case or in how the Tribunal works in general. You will not be in a public courtroom with lots of other people. The Tribunal gets to decide who can be there and who cannot. They want to make sure that you feel comfortable and safe when you are talking about your case. This is why they have rules about who can be present during proceedings.
