If you make a false statement to get something done or not done under Part 1, Part 2, or Part 3 of this law, you commit an offence. You do this if you knowingly make a statement that is false in an important way, or if you recklessly make a statement that is false in an important way. This can be for your own benefit or for someone else's benefit.

47Making false statements

  1. Every person commits an offence who, for the purpose of procuring anything to be done or not to be done under Part 1 or Part 2 or Part 3, whether for his or her own benefit or for the benefit of any other person,—

  2. makes a statement that he or she knows to be false in a material particular; or
    1. recklessly makes a statement that is false in a material particular.
      1. Every person who commits an offence against subsection (1) is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years or to a fine not exceeding $5,000.
