You can ask Public Trust to investigate the condition and accounts of trust property if you are a trustee or a beneficiary of a trust. You can do this unless the trustee is a trustee corporation. Public Trust will not investigate if an investigation of the trust property has happened in the last 12 months, unless you have been given permission by the court to make the application. They also will not investigate if the court has ordered that an investigation must not happen.

You might need to pay a deposit or give security to cover the costs of the investigation before Public Trust starts the process. This includes paying for Public Trust's charges. You can find more information about this by looking at the Trusts Act 2019 and similar laws, such as the 1956 No 61 s 83B(1).
