When you make a complaint about not getting official information, an Ombudsman investigates. If the information was not given because of a privacy reason, the Ombudsman talks to the Privacy Commissioner. The Ombudsman does this before making a final decision about whether the information should be given. The Ombudsman talks to the Privacy Commissioner under the Privacy Act 2020. You can find more about this in section 27 and section 7(2)(a) and section 30. The Ombudsman must do this before making a final opinion about the complaint.
