The Hauraki Gulf Forum has many jobs to do. You can think of these jobs as ways to help look after the Hauraki Gulf, its islands, and the areas that drain into it. The Forum's jobs include preparing a list of important issues, helping different groups work together on planning and money, and gathering information about the state of the environment. The Forum also has to get reports from different groups and people, like those who are working on special plans to look after the area. They have to write a report every three years on how the environment is doing and what progress is being made. You can find out more about what the Forum is doing by looking at sections 7 and 8. When the Forum is doing its jobs, it must remember the special connection that tangata whenua have with the area. This connection is based on history, tradition, culture, and spirituality. The Forum must consider this connection when making decisions and taking action.
