The Governor-General can make regulations for several purposes. You can think of regulations like rules that help make the law work. The Governor-General can make rules about which agencies can endorse someone who wants to be the Commissioner. They can also make rules about what the Commissioner's code of ethics should include. The Commissioner's code of ethics is like a set of guidelines that helps them make good decisions. The Governor-General can make rules about how often the Commissioner should review their code of ethics, and who they should talk to when they are making or changing the code. They can also make rules about anything else that this Act says should be covered by regulations. Regulations made under this section are a type of law called secondary legislation, which has its own set of rules for publication, as outlined in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.
