This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Regulatory Standards Bill

Principles of responsible regulation and regulatory stewardship - Guidance

27: Guidance

You could also call this:

"Help for making good rules and laws"

The new law says that two important people, the regulatory standards Minister and the Attorney-General, can work together to give advice. This advice will help people understand how to make good rules and laws.

They can tell you about the best ways to use the principles of responsible regulation. These are important ideas that help make fair and useful laws.

They can also explain how to check if new or old laws follow these principles. This is to make sure all laws are good and fair.

The advice can tell you how to write clear statements that show how well laws follow the principles.

The two important people can also give advice on how to make plans for checking and improving laws. They can tell you what to think about when making these plans, how often to make them, and what to put in them.

They can advise on how to share these plans with everyone, and how to tell people about how well the plans are working.

All of this advice must be put on a website where anyone can read it.
