This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Regulatory Standards Bill

Principles of responsible regulation and regulatory stewardship - How principles apply when developing legislation - Government amendments

11: Review of consistency of Government amendment with principles

You could also call this:

"Checking if government changes to laws are fair"

This part of the bill is about making sure government changes to laws follow good rules. If the government wants to change a law, they need to explain two things. First, they must say if the change follows the rules for making good laws. Second, if the change doesn't follow these rules, the minister in charge must explain why. These explanations need to be easy for everyone to find when the government shares their proposed changes.
