If you are a Police employee and you cause death or serious bodily harm to someone while doing your job, the Commissioner must tell the Authority about it. The Commissioner has to give the Authority a written notice with details of what happened as soon as possible. You can find more information about the law that requires the Commissioner to do this in the Policing Act 2008 and the Independent Police Conduct Authority Amendment Act 2007.
