You can make a complaint to the Authority. The Authority can review how the Police handled your complaint. The Authority can also decide to investigate your complaint itself. It can tell the Police what to do when they are investigating your complaint. You might want to know what the Authority can do with your complaint. The Authority can tell the Police to look at your complaint again. It can also tell the Police to think again about what they plan to do about your complaint. The Authority can decide not to do anything else about your complaint. This might happen if the Authority thinks the Police have already done a good job of investigating your complaint, as stated in section 18. The Authority might decide that it does not need to get involved if it is happy with how the Police handled your complaint.
