Independent Police Conduct Authority Act 1988

Functions of Authority

20: Duty of Commissioner to report to Authority on Police investigation of complaint

You could also call this:

"The Police Commissioner must report to the Authority on how they handled a complaint."

Illustration for Independent Police Conduct Authority Act 1988

You need to know what the Police do when they finish investigating a complaint. The Police Commissioner must tell the Independent Police Conduct Authority about it within 2 months. They must say if the complaint was upheld or settled. The Commissioner must also give the Authority enough information to check if the investigation was good enough. They can talk to the Authority before sending their report if they want to. This helps the Authority understand what the Police plan to do about the complaint.
