Illustration for Impounding Act 1955

If you own stock that trespasses, you have to pay trespass rates. You pay these rates as set by regulations made under this Act. The amount you pay depends on the type of stock and the land or crop it trespassed on.

You pay the rates to the local authority if your stock is in a pound. If not, you pay the rates directly to the person who looks after your stock or the occupier. The rates might be double in some cases, as set by the regulations.
