Illustration for Impounding Act 1955

If you do certain things, you can get in trouble with the law. You can be fined up to $500 if you rescue or try to rescue stock that has been impounded, or if you interfere with it. You can also be fined if you damage a pound or its locks, impound stock illegally, move stock to a different place to impound it, or buy unclaimed impounded stock at a sale you are running for the local authority.

You can be fined up to $100 if you refuse to say who owns stock you are in charge of, or if you give false information about the owner. You can also be fined if you drive stock onto someone else's land without permission, leave a gate open so stock can wander, or break any other rules in this Act that do not have a specific penalty.

If you do any of these things and are found guilty, you will have to pay the fine.
