When the Commissioner is preparing or reviewing the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights, you can expect them to talk to lots of different people and groups. The Commissioner will consult with people like health consumers, disability services consumers, health care providers, and disability services providers. They will also talk to organisations like the Ombudsmen, the Human Rights Commission, the Privacy Commissioner, the Children's Commissioner, the Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission, and the Director of Mental Health.

The Commissioner wants to make sure they hear a wide range of views to help them prepare and review the Code. This means they will invite submissions from the people and groups they consult with, as required by section 14(2) and in line with their duties under sections 19 and 21. You can think of submissions like feedback or comments that people can provide to help the Commissioner make good decisions.
