The Chief Archivist can tell you what to do with an estray record. You might be told to manage it in a certain way or make it available to the public. You could also be asked to give the record to the Chief Archivist or another office. If you get a notice, you must do what it says. This is so the estray record is handled correctly. You have to follow the instructions in the notice. If the estray record is protected, you might be told to give it to the Chief Archivist or the local authority. You must comply with the notice you receive. This helps keep the record safe and available when needed.
