24Temporary return of public archives to controlling public office

  1. If the administrative head of a controlling public office satisfies the Chief Archivist that the public archive is required for administrative use, the Chief Archivist—

  2. must return the public archive to the possession of that public office for an agreed period of time; and
    1. may impose conditions to ensure the safe custody and preservation of the public archive during the time that it is in the possession of the public office.
