The purpose of this part of the law is to make sure child protection policies are in place. You need to know these policies must include how to identify and report child abuse and neglect. These policies must be adopted by certain groups, including some State services and the board of Health New Zealand, school boards, and people who have contracts with these services or boards.

These groups have to create and use these policies to help keep children safe. They have to report on how they are using these policies. This is an important part of keeping children safe from abuse and neglect in New Zealand.
