When the Minister is creating or changing a strategy to improve children's well-being under section 6, you need to know they must think about some important principles. They must acknowledge that children are valuable and deserve respect. The Minister must also respect and uphold children's rights in New Zealand law, including rights that come from the UNCROC or the UNCRPD. The Minister should consider children as part of their families, whānau, hapū, and iwi, and other community groups. This helps the Minister make good decisions for children.
