A child protection policy is a set of rules that helps keep you safe. When a service, board, or independent person makes a child protection policy, it must apply to the way they provide services to children. The policy must also have rules about identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect, and these rules must follow what is said in section 15 of the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989.

The policy is about how to keep you safe when you are using a service. It is written down and it talks about what to do if someone thinks a child is being abused or neglected. This is an important part of the policy because it helps people know what to do to keep you safe.

You can expect the people who make the policy to follow the rules and make sure everyone knows what to do. They must write the policy and make sure it has the right information in it. The policy is there to help protect you and keep you safe.
