When you hear the term "threat to integrity" in this Act, it means something that can harm the honesty and fairness of sport. This can include things like trying to manipulate the result of a game or competition. It also includes doping in sport, which is when someone takes substances to cheat and get an unfair advantage.

You might see a threat to integrity when there is racism, discrimination, bullying, or harassment in sport, which is against the law under Part 2 of the Human Rights Act 1993, found here. It can also be when someone is corrupt, commits fraud, or breaks the trust of others in sport.

A threat to integrity can happen when a sports organisation does not take reasonable steps to prevent these bad things from happening, such as stopping manipulation of competitions, doping, or protecting people from harm, including following Part 2 of the Human Rights Act 1993, found here, or keeping children safe in sport.
