Integrity Sport and Recreation Act 2023

Integrity Sport and Recreation Commission

9: Commission must act independently

You could also call this:

"The Commission makes its own decisions without being told what to do by others."

The Commission has to make its own decisions when it is doing its job and using its powers. You can find the Commission's powers in this Act and in other Acts that talk about what the Commission can do. The Commission must not follow instructions from others, except when another Act says it can, but this does not include the Crown Entities Act 2004.

The Commission has to be independent when it is performing its functions and duties. This means the Commission makes its own choices about what to do.

You can see what the Commission can do in the Acts that apply to it, and the Commission must follow these Acts when making decisions.
