Evidence Act 2006

2: Commencement

You could also call this:

"When the new law starts and you must follow it"

This Act will come into force on a date chosen by the Governor-General. The Governor-General can choose different dates for different parts of the Act. You can find out more about how these dates are published by looking at Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.

The Governor-General will make an Order in Council to set these dates. This Order in Council is a type of secondary legislation.

When the Act comes into force, it will be law, and you will need to follow it.
