The office of Inspector-General of Defence is created. You can think of the Inspector-General as a person who checks that the defence force is doing its job properly. The Governor-General chooses this person based on a recommendation from the House of Representatives. The person who gets this job must have a special security clearance. This clearance is like a background check to make sure the person is trustworthy. The Minister decides what level of clearance is needed. You can find out more about the role of the Inspector-General and the defence force, but for now, that's what the law says about appointing an Inspector-General.
