When you give something to the Inspector-General for an investigation, they must do something with it after the investigation is finished. They have to either give it back to you or get rid of it securely if it is a copy. You can find more information about how they get rid of things securely in the Public Records Act 2005. The Inspector-General must keep other information and documents about the investigation secure or get rid of them securely. They have to follow special rules to keep everything safe. The Inspector-General follows the Public Records Act 2005 when deciding what to do with the information and documents.
