74Regulations for restrictions and conditions that apply to authorised persons undertaking ring net fishing
The Governor-General may, by Order in Council made on the recommendation of the Minister and the Minister responsible for administration of the Fisheries Act 1996, make regulations that prescribe restrictions and conditions that apply to an authorised person undertaking ring net fishing in accordance with section 23.
Regulations made under subsection (1)—
- must provide for—
- restrictions relating to the period when an authorised person may undertake ring net fishing, which may be any period of time during the period starting on 1 March and ending on 31 August of each year only; and
- restrictions relating to the species of fish that an authorised person may target, which may be all or any of the following species only:
- kahawai:
- grey mullet:
- trevally:
- kahawai:
- restrictions relating to the period when an authorised person may undertake ring net fishing, which may be any period of time during the period starting on 1 March and ending on 31 August of each year only; and
- may provide for any other restrictions or conditions that apply to an authorised person undertaking ring net fishing that the Ministers consider necessary.
