Illustration for Remuneration Authority Act 1977

The Governor-General can change some schedules in the Remuneration Authority Act by Order in Council. You can think of an Order in Council like a official decision made by the government. The Governor-General can add or remove university positions from Schedule 2, or add or remove statutory officers from Schedule 4.

The Governor-General can also make other changes to these schedules, like replacing a whole schedule with a new one. When the Governor-General makes an Order in Council, it will take effect as stated in the order.

An Order in Council is a type of secondary legislation, which you can learn more about in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019, you can find this information at the Legislation Act 2019 website.
