When you are working out how much someone should get paid, you need to think about a few things. You need to make sure their pay is fair compared to what other people get paid in similar jobs. You also need to think about being fair to the person getting paid and to the people who are paying them, like taxpayers.

You need to consider what kind of person you want to hire for the job and what you need to pay them to keep them working for you. When you are deciding how much to pay someone, you should look at what the job requires and what other people in similar jobs get paid.

You should also think about what kind of working conditions the person has, like holidays and hours, and compare them to what other people in similar jobs get. The Authority will look at these things when they are deciding how much to pay someone, according to section 12(1)(a) and section 12B(1).
