You can get in trouble if you do not go to the Tribunal when asked. You must also answer questions and bring papers or things when asked. If you do not do these things without a good reason, you can be fined up to $1,500. You will only get in trouble if you were paid for your travel expenses as stated in section 218. If you were not paid, you cannot be convicted. The Tribunal will ask you questions and you must answer them truthfully. If you break these rules, you can be fined, but only if you were paid to travel to the Tribunal.

220Non-attendance or refusal to co-operate

  1. Every person commits an offence who, after being summoned to attend to give evidence before the Tribunal or to produce to the Tribunal any papers, documents, records, or things, without sufficient cause,—

  2. fails to attend in accordance with the summons; or
    1. refuses to be sworn or to give evidence, or, having been sworn, refuses to answer any question that the person is lawfully required by the Tribunal or any member of it to answer concerning the proceedings; or
      1. fails to produce any such paper, document, record, or thing.
        1. Every person who commits an offence against subsection (1) is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $1,500.

        2. No person summoned to attend before the Tribunal shall be convicted of an offence against subsection (1) unless there was tendered or paid to that person travelling expenses in accordance with section 218.
