Illustration for Medicines Act 1981

The Minister appoints a group called the Medicines Classification Committee. You can read about how the Minister does this in section 8. This group helps the Minister decide how medicines are classified. The Committee looks at how medicines should be classified and tells the Minister. They also think about other things related to the Act that the Minister asks them to. The Committee has members from different groups, including the New Zealand Medical Association and the Pharmaceutical Society of New Zealand, as well as officers from the Ministry of Health.
