If you have an accredited scheme, you can make changes to it. You can change an accredited scheme, but the changes do not take effect until the scheme is re-accredited under section 15. This means you must get the scheme re-accredited before any changes can happen.

If the changes you make will not hurt the scheme's goals, then you do not need to get it re-accredited under section 15. However, if you add new people or products to the scheme, you must tell the Minister in writing within 5 working days of making the changes. You must do this even if the changes will not hurt the scheme's goals.

When you tell the Minister about the changes, you must do it in writing and you must do it quickly, within 5 working days of making the changes. This is so the Minister knows what is happening with the scheme. You can make changes to an accredited scheme, but you must follow the rules.

16Variation of accredited scheme

  1. An accredited scheme may be varied.

  2. However, no variation to an accredited scheme has any effect until the scheme, as varied, is re-accredited under section 15.

  3. Subsection (2) does not apply if the variation to the scheme is a variation that will not adversely affect the scheme's objectives or its ability to meet those objectives within the time frames set in the scheme but, if the variation adds 1 or more participants to the scheme or adds 1 or more brands of product to which the scheme relates, the scheme manager must notify the Minister, in writing, of the addition not more than 5 working days after the scheme is varied.
