Waste Minimisation Act 2008

Preliminary provisions

7: Meaning of disposal facility

You could also call this:

"What a disposal facility is: a place that gets rid of household waste as part of its work"

Illustration for Waste Minimisation Act 2008

When you read the Waste Minimisation Act 2008, the term disposal facility has a specific meaning. A disposal facility is a place where waste is thrown away, like a landfill. This place must get rid of household waste, which is waste from homes that is not entirely from building or renovating the house.

You need to know that a disposal facility operates as a business to get rid of waste. This means it is a place that throws away waste as part of its work. A disposal facility can also be another type of place where waste is thrown away, if the government says it is.

The term household waste refers to waste that comes from a home, but not from building, renovating, or demolishing the house.
