When you look at the Waste Minimisation Act 2008, you will see some extra information. This information is about how the act is applied during a transition period. You are affected by the rules in this schedule if you are involved in a project to clean up a contaminated site.

The rules say that the Minister does not have to consider certain criteria when deciding to fund a project to clean up a contaminated site until they have notified the criteria under section 38(4) or until 1 January 2025, whichever is earlier. You can find more information about this in section 38(3)(a).

If money was collected as a levy before the amendment act started, it must still be used according to the original act. The amendment act is the Waste Minimisation (Waste Disposal Levy) Amendment Act 2024. The commencement date is when this amendment act comes into force.
