Oversight of Oranga Tamariki system - Monitoring of Oranga Tamariki system - Power of entry for monitoring purposes

35: Notice of entry

You could also call this:

"Before entering a place, staff must give the person in charge a written notice saying why they are coming in."

Before you enter premises, an authorised staff member must give written notice to the person in charge. The notice must state that the staff member is entering for a specific purpose, which is described in section 34. The notice must be given a reasonable time before the staff member enters.

The notice does not need to explain why the staff member thinks it is necessary to enter the premises. You can find the reason for this in section 34(1). The staff member must follow the rules when giving notice.

The staff member must give the notice before entering, as required by section 34. This is so the person in charge knows what is happening. The notice is an important part of the process.
